examiner.com – Inspired by faith, Phillip Anthony launches Astorre Cut + Sew

by / May 15, 2014

Phillip Anthony was dressed in overalls he bought on e-bay and a from his new line Astorre Cut + Sew Exhibit A. He presented Astorre Cut +Sew Exhibit A, a new menswear line, to an intimate crowd at The Loft at Center Stage in Atlanta, Ga. The faith based collection is a reflection of Anthony’s belief as Christian. The self-proclaimed introvert says he was inspired by the progress being made by Christian music artists.

“I am inspired by music and good Christian hip-hop,” Anthony says. “I thought how could I use myself talents to contribute?”

The collection consists of classic items with an urban spin including hoodies, polos, dress shirts, jackets and vests. Anthony describes the line as trendy, but says he hopes to see it evolve. The collection is relatively small with a color palette of maroon, navy, white and heather grey and Anthony doesn’t plan on switching up color pattern.

“I try to keep it as classic as possible,” Anthony explains. “I don’t want people to buy it and then a month later you want to throw it away. As time goes on I definitely want to grow with my customer.”

The showcase consisted of performances by Christian music artists such as Alex Faith, Christian Lewis, and Demetrius Mack with special performance by Kameron Korvet and Gilles. The event was hosted by multi-media personality Cory “CoCo” Brother Condrey. Models were displayed through out the venue in the new Astorre Spring 2014 collection while guests enjoyed Red Bull, light bites courtesy of Nikki Can Cook star of Food Networks America’s Best Cook and live music.

“Rappers putting out Christian music is really good,” Anthony says. “It’s a really good thing that people are putting their faith into what they do.”
